Individual Executive Presentation Coaching

You are a leader in your organization – it’s critical that you communicate like one. As a leader you have to present yourself, your ideas, and the company in the strongest and most favorable light. Your audience today is very sophisticated. They know what a leader sounds and acts like. Make sure that your presentation skills are up to their standard.

Improve your presentation and communication skills through highly interactive videotaped practice sessions. The focus during these sessions is: (1) ensuring that you deliver key messages clearly and concisely; (2) and perhaps more importantly, that you come across like a leader.

Approach

The training approach is as practical and hands-on as possible. It is premised on two key principles:

You learn best by ‘doing’.

and

You learn faster when you ‘see’ for yourself.

Thus, the training sessions are driven by repeated, videotaped and critiqued, participant presentations.

Methodology

The format, time, and schedule can be customized for the individual executive. What follows is a suggested format and methodology.

Two days are dedicated to this training. The two days are separated by at least one week’s time. During each day you commit only two and one-half hours. This format allows you to internalize and reinforce the learning, while at the same time, minimizing time away from work. Generally the schedule works best if the first session is approximately two weeks before the speaking event. The second session is scheduled for three to four days before the speaking event.

Presentation Devlivery

The first session typically lasts two and one-half hours. During this session you deliver a segment of an up-coming presentation. Generally, that segment lasts no more than seven minutes. This segment is videotaped.

Review with Critique

Comments focus on both the clarity of content and the quality of delivery. Using the recommendations from the critique you redeliver the initial segment.

Redelivery and Critique

This is again videotaped and critiqued. This process is followed for the entire session. Typically, the presentation/review/critique process is repeated six to seven times. At the end of the session you isolate both ‘content’ and ‘delivery’ issues to be worked on during the second session. Basically we are refining the message, tightening it up, allowing you to deliver your message more clearly and confidently.

Day Two Process

Day Two allots another two and one-half hour session. The same process is followed as on Day One, that is, you deliver the presentation taking into account the suggestions made at the end of the Day One session. Each ‘take’ is videotaped and critiqued as on Day One.

By the end of these two sessions you will have refined, tightened, and clarified key corporate messages. At the same time you will have changed your delivery from focusing on content to engaging your listeners and creating a very positive dynamic in the room. The best way to describe the process is: at the end you will exhibit that quiet confidence that allows your listeners to have confidence in you.

Summary and Recommendations

At the end of the training you receive a complete summary of the training along with specific recommendations for improving. Generally, the recommendations take the form of isolating two to three things that you should think about before every presentation. In addition, you receive a CD which includes all the practice sessions. The difference between the first and final taping is enormous.
