Team Presentations

The underlying premise of these tips and techniques is that as your team makes its presentation, (and of course, as other teams make their presentations) your listeners are asking themselves one question, namely:

‘Do we want to do business with these people?’

The best way to think about this general question is to break it out into three distinct questions. Your listeners ask themselves these questions:

  1. Do these speakers seem in-terested and happy with the work they do?
  2. Do they really seem interested in working with us?
  3. Would I feel comfortable calling this person if I had a problem?

It is the answer to these questions that determines your ultimate success or failure. Many of you may rely on the quality of your presentation materials, the reputation of your company, the quality of your products, or on the fact that you have done business with them for years. But, your listeners are actually evaluating you, in no small degree, by the quality of the presentation made by the team in front of them. If you want to stand out, if you want to get a competitive advantage, then make sure that you deliver a clear, concise, coordinated, and professional presentation. Your potential clients are smart people. If you tell them that you use a ‘team approach’ to servicing clients, then act like a team in the room. They know what a team looks and sounds like. They know when people have spent time communicating and hashing out key ideas before a major team presentation. And their decision about the quality of your client servicing will be based far more on the quality and coordination of your presentation than on the slogans that you throw out.

So, let’s look at some of the tips and techniques that you need to insure a clear, crisp and coordinated team presentation.
